Transitioning out of the Swaddle with Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit

Grayson has loved being swaddled when he sleeps. I read that the average age to stop swaddling baby is around 3 or 4 months of age. This is when I began looking for alternatives. A few friends mentioned this awesome product that is perfect for the swaddling transition.

This product was given in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. In addition, this post contains affiliate links, which means I may receive a commission if you click a link and purchase something that I have recommended. My full disclosure can be found here.

Baby Merlin’s Magic Sleepsuit provides Gray with a cozy sleep environment. It was made for babies that are ready to transition from the swaddle. The sleepsuit helps by “muffling your baby’s twitches and startle-type movements that can wake them prematurely”. I started using the sleepsuit first during nap time. This way I could monitor him in it. He slept so great, pure heaven! We have been using it every night since. As suggested, we cuff the legs so his feet peak out.

Grayson’s baby monitor allows me to monitor the room temperature as well. With his sleep suit on, we like to keep the temperature around the lower end of the American Academy of Pediatrics guideline. The sleepsuit comes in two different fabrics. We chose cotton, but they also come in micro fleece. This would be perfect for y’all that live in colder climates. The colors they have include: blue, cream, yellow and pink! This is such a great product for when you need to transition out of the swaddle. It would make a great baby shower gift as well. I highly recommend you check them out! What color and fabric would you chose? Let me know in the comments.

The Magic Sleepsuit is designed for back sleeping only in the crib and should be used in a room at the recommended temperature for babies.  It should be used with the recommended ABC’s of Sleep (Alone, Back, Crib). Once babies show signs they are ready for more freedom of movement in their sleep (e.g. trying to roll over), it is time to transition them out of the Magic Sleepsuit.

  1. I just started hearing about this sleep suit from a few fellow moms! Your review gave so much more details. I think we will have to try this. I love the idea of starting with naps.
